Academy Notes

The Academy for Likelong Learning (A.L.L.) publishes program brochures each January for the spring term and each July for the fall term. Members receive Academy Notes, the A.L.L. newsletter, twice a year and news flyers when necessary. In addition to A.L.L. news and announcements, Academy Notes features articles by members of general interest, and reviews of study groups and other A.L.L. activities.

The Academy's publishing arm, The Third Age Press, was created in 1997 with the publication of Ourselves: Then and Now, an anthology of A.L.L. members' essays from a study group of the same name. The six-member editorial board now supervises the production of The Apple Tree, a journal of members' writing and artwork.

A.L.L.'s Study Group Leaders Handbook has proven very useful to both new and experienced leaders and has been purchased by other Institutes for Lifelong Learning throughout North America for use or adaptation in their programs.

A.L.L.'s Executive Council Handbook details the governance of the Academy and the responsibilities of each member of the executive council.
