      Governance
      The executive council, elected by the general membership, develops policy. Member volunteers elected to serve on the council are: the chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, and the committee chairpersons (curriculum, administration and finance, development and long-range planning, membership and promotion, and social and special programs). Appointed positions are: historian, EIN representative and Third Age Press editorial board chairperson. The A.L.L. executive director, the past executive council chairperson and the Empire State College liaison are ex officio members of the council.
      Approximately 20 study groups are offered each term in the fields of literature, writing, the arts, computers, religion, science, health, current events, local interest and history depending on the interests of members and availability of leaders.

      A.L.L. is one of more than 375 Lifelong Learning Institutes across the United States, Canada and Bermuda affiliated with EIN.
      What makes A.L.L. unique?
      Small classes - maximum 15-30 participants in a study group.
      Small membership - enabling members to become better acquainted, form lasting friendships and participate actively in study groups.
      Participatory program - members make decisions from curriculum to dues structure to scheduling and length of terms.
      Participatory learning - format is seldom lecture, rather consists of discussions, reports, demonstrations and "hands-on" activities. Members take active roles in their learning.
      Peer leaders - A.L.L. study groups are peer led.
