.Library and Research Resources

You can find these links and more at the Online Library:

To Locate Books: There are several ways to obtain books. You will need your College login and password.
  • Search the library's e-book collections, using the E-Book Catalog.
  • Use WorldCat to identify books held by other libraries. For information on borrowing books from other libraries, please visit the page on InterLibrary Loan.
All Research Databases: On this page, there are links to searchable online indexes to help you identify articles in popular magazines, scholarly journals, newspapers and other publications by topic. You will need your college login and password.
  • To Locate Full-Text Articles: Full-text (or complete) articles may be located through our many database services. Keep in mind, however, that not all articles are full text. In some cases, you may only find an abstract or a citation. Finding a full-text article that is not available through the online library will require that you first find the physical location of the journal itself. If it is not within driving distance, you may use either Interlibrary Loan services or Document Delivery Services. We do not endorse any one service. Fees may be costly. Please read these pages carefully before hiring a service.
  • To Locate Journals Outside the Empire State College online library: Journals may be located through WorldCat. To find out which libraries own specific journal titles, enter the journal name in the "title" search box using quotes. When the results display, click on the link provided to view "Libraries Worldwide."

Full-text Journal Finder - To Locate Journals Within the Empire State College online library: When looking to see if a specific journal is available online through the online library, use Full-text Journal Finder. This service will tell you if we have the journal, the dates available and provide a link directly to the database or journal to help facilitate your search. You will need your college login and password to connect directly to online journals.

Resources By Topic (aka Subject Guides): When not sure where to start or which databases to use for your topic, visit the Subject Guides pages. Each subject area has a comprehensive list of pertinent research databases, electronic book collections and select web resources available through the Empire State College online library. College login and password are required.

The Online Study in Information Literacy: For extra help learning the research process, review Modules 1-6 for more information on finding books, articles, research databases, etc.
