members of the BALAM Dance TheatreI am a choreographer and performer in New York City. My experience at Empire State College was excellent! It deepened my understanding of my art in a broader social context and inspired me to investigate other disciplines. I became an empowered participant”.

At Empire State College, you can …

  • develop individual studies as well as entire degree programs in the practice, history and criticism of the visual, performing and media arts
  • focus on a single art form, or combine elements in an interdisciplinary concentration
  • make use of New York City resources (studios, museums and galleries, art schools and internships etc.) for your studies and independent projects
  • benefit from a nontraditional program where you design your own degree curriculum and can receive college credit for knowledge gained through prior learning (performance and study)
  • expand on your skills, gain renewed or redirected creative inspiration, or use your arts background as the springboard to a new career path
  • study with faculty and affiliated artists who are professionals in the field
