Director, Center for Mentoring and Learning
Katherine Jelly joined Empire State College in July 2008 to develop and serve as director for the Center for Mentoring and Learning. As director of the center, she works with the CML Advisory Board to develop systems and programming that support faculty development across the college, including both the new mentor orientation and ongoing support of experienced faculty.
Previously, Jelly developed and led the Master of Education program at Vermont College of Union Institute & University (1999-2006) and served on the M.Ed. faculty (1999-2008). From 1996 to 1999, she chaired the education program and served as core faculty in the adult degree program at Vermont College. Prior to that, she served as core faculty in education at Goddard College (1986-1996).
Her areas of interest have included reflective practice; critical autobiographical narrative; professional development and renewal; adult development and education; political, social, and economic issues in education; leadership, change, and reform in education; women’s autobiography; and moral development and education.
Jelly earned her B.A. from Yale University, her MAT from Harvard Graduate School of Education and her Ed.D. from Boston University.
