Welcome to the Central New York Region
SUNY Empire State College in Central New York serves 1,200 students annually at seven locations. Home to more than 6,000 alumni of the college, our region is rich with talented, motivated people who are involved in the community and helping to drive innovation such as green industry.
Our faculty mentors work with each student pursuing a degree, from orientation through graduation. These dedicated mentors help undergraduates develop program plans that support individual needs and interests. As well, we foster partnerships with several community colleges in the region; our faculty and staff continuously develop these relationships to ease the transfer process for qualified community college students to Empire State College.
There are a variety of ways to learn and engage with the college: independent studies, online courses and a blend of these approaches; at Central New York weekend learning communities residencies at our Syracuse location, where students interact face to face with mentors and other students in the areas of the arts, business and human services; and at events such as art exhibits and lectures where students and alumni gather and connect.
Additionally, each year our region hosts an artist in residence who offers workshops and independent studies; Dan Duggan, an award-winning musician, performer and teaching artist, is our 2014-2015 artist.
