This concentration prepares you for leadership in the Fire Service. You will take introductory and advanced courses that emphasize administration and management of municipal fire services, protection and prevention strategies, fire investigation and forensics, and community and political dimensions of fire service administration, among other things. Beyond the technical aspects of the concentration, you will be able to study public administration and a variety of social science disciplines. You will also become adept at critical and analytical reasoning as you progress towards your Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Professional Studies degree.

Credit is also available for prior college-level learning gained through standard training programs delivered through the National Fire Academy and various state fire academies. Students may be able to apply for credit for college-level learning obtained from training programs conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and state emergency management agencies. Emergency medical services licenses and CPR certificates may also qualify for college credit.

Some of this training has already been evaluated for credit by the American Council on Education. The college accepts credit recommendations of the following institutions:

• National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction for training programs of the Nassau County Emergency Medical Services Academy,
• the New York City Fire Department,
• the New York City Police Department,
• the New York State Division of State Police, and
• the North Shore University Hospital Center for Emergency Training and Development.
