Enrollment Sequence For the M.A. In Liberal Studies Program

The following is the typical enrollment sequence for liberal studies students:

First term:
6 credits = Seminar in Liberal Studies* &
Models of Critical Inquiry*- (select one of the following four courses):

    LIB-640504 - Society, Technology & the Environment
    LIB-640505 - Education & Human Development
    LIB-640506 - Ethical & Social Practice
    LIB-640507 - Technology & the Environment

Second term:
6 credits = Perspectives on Interdisciplinary Study* & elective - The Literature Review

Third term:
6 credits = 2 electives

Fourth term:
6 credits = elective - Theory to Methods & 1 elective

Fifth term:
6 credits = 2 electives

Sixth term:
6 credits = Final Project & 1 elective

* = residency-based course






Total 36 credits
    Students with heavy work or family responsibilities may wish to consider taking only one course/study per term.

    It is imperative that you be in contact with your academic advisor early on in the first term to identify the focus of your work in the liberal studies program.

    Most electives taken by MALS students are individually designed during the degree planning process, which students undertake in Perspectives on Interdisciplinary Study.
