CRIME STATISTICS AND REPORTS



In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Code 20 USC 1092), Empire State College provides information relating to crime statistics and security measures to all current students,faculty and staff. Information and a copy of the current annual security report may also be obtained by perspective students or staff upon request. through the Office of Safety and Security. Background of Information:

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, this legislation requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information pertaining to crimes that have been reported or occurred on or around college campuses. The Clery Act also requires the reporting of crimes in the vicinity of college properties on public properties, this includes properties owned or maintained by the college. (Empire State College is a nonresidential college.) Colleges and Universities are required to publish an annual security report, containing three years of campus crime statistics. The report must also outline certain security policy and or procedural statements, including sexual assault awareness programs and reporting procedures. The information will assure basic victims rights. Specific information regarding the law enforcement authority of campus security, police are identified. Procedures as to how and where the college community may report crimes are identified.
The annual report must be made available to all current students and employees. Prospective students and employees may request a copy of the report, Empire State College posts the Annual Security Report on the College Security Office web site. All current student, faculty and staff are to be notified of the annual reports publication, existence and are given an opportunity to request a copy. It remains the responsibility of Empire State Colleges, Office of Safety and Security for the collection of criminal statistical information, crime reports and the distribution of the annual security report, in accordance with law, on or before October 1st of each calendar year.
