ATHENS PROGRAM
The Empire State College program in Athens, Greece was established in 1992 in cooperation with the State University of New York at New Paltz. The classroom-based program serves students living in Athens who want to earn a degree from an American university. Most program participants are students of the host institution, New York College in Athens, who have completed two years of college course work. The program is also open to adults whose work experience qualifies them for university-level credits toward their degree requirements. Students transferring from New York College or similar post-secondary institutions in Greece are expected to have completed a minimum of 40 transferable credits prior to admission. Local faculty in Greece provides instruction in this program, which currently serves 350 students in two academic terms and a summer session. On-site office staff members are available to assist students.
Empire State College faculty provides annual site visits in which they work with New York College faculty on curriculum and faculty development, and present seminars or guest lectures at the host institutions. Consultants in business studies, computer science and information systems, the arts (both graphic and visual), psychology and international relations currently serve the program.
Concentrations are offered in: Business Administration; Communications; Computer Science; Finance; Information Systems; International Business; Management; Marketing; and Psychology.
