LEBANON RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Founded in 1997 as the Cyprus Residency Program, the Lebanon Residency Program combines face-to-face residencies with a distance learning tutorial model. The program serves Lebanese students from two host institutions -- the American University of Technology in Halate and Tripoli, and the American University of Science and Technology in Beirut and Zehle -- as well as other students from the Middle East who are interested in earning an Empire State College bachelor’s degree. Students typically join the program after completing two years of a four-year college program.
The Empire State College faculty travel from New York to Lebanon two times a year to meet students for an intensive 10-day residency during which they complete one set of courses, and begin a new set of courses. Following the residency, students and faculty continue to work together in web-based instruction. Approximately 12 Empire State College faculty members currently serve 120 enrollees per term. There are two academic terms per year, with three scheduled residencies corresponding with the fall, spring and summer academic terms of the host institutions.
Concentrations are offered in: Audiovisual Arts; Business Management; Communication: Public Relations; Communication: Radio and Television; Computer Science; Environmental Design; Finance; Graphic Design; Hospitality Management; Political Science/International Affairs; Management Information Systems; and Marketing and Advertising.
