Writing Center Assistance
Overview
Writing skills are an essential part of your education at Empire State College. College-level writing skills are necessary to succeed. In all learning formats – independent study, distance learning and group studies – you will be doing a lot of writing.
The college provides supports to assist in developing your writing. There are writing specialists at all New York locations who conduct workshops and support sessions. Some of these writing specialists also maintain web pages.
In addition to these location-based writing centers, the college maintains a writing resource center. Refer to this resource to answer questions about grammar and punctuation, to get hints about how to go about your first research paper, and to get feedback and suggestions from a "live" writing tutor. Most of the writing resource pages are open to all users; however some special areas, like access to the writing tutor, require an Empire State College login.
You also can find information about writing for particular subject areas on the area of study pages for Educational Studies, Historical Studies, Human Development and Labor Studies.
