Your eligibility for Federal Student Aid and Empire State College Foundation Scholarships and Grants cannot be determined until completing and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA).
Full-time students must also complete a NYS Express TAP Application online at the time that they complete the FAFSA. In state students who complete a paper FAFSA will have a NYS Express TAP Application mailed to them automatically. Students attending less than full time must complete an Aid for Part-time Studies form . All students seeking a federal student loan must complete student loan counseling. You should apply for all assistance programs for which they may be eligible at least three months before your expected date of enrollment.
There are three types of aid available at Empire State College:
- grants/scholarships - money that need not be repaid
- loans - money that students borrow which must be repaid with interest
- work study - student employment
In addition to the financial aid programs discussed here, other sources of financial assistance may be available from a wide variety of organizations, civic and cultural groups and employers. To search for additional sources of college funding try your public library or the Internet. We offer several excellent free scholarship searches including a scholarship search of Empire State College institutional funds.
