New York State Permanent Teacher Certification

Individuals who have initial certification to teach in New York’s public schools may complete the Master of Arts in Liberal Study as a functionally-relevant masters degree in application for permanent New York State teacher certification.

This program is not a professional education program through which individuals can gain initial certification. However, it is appropriate for initially-certified teachers seeking a masters degree for permanent certification. Further information is available through NYS Education Department (NYSED)
