Your Chance to Network, Collaborate and Learn
Three short-term statewide residencies bring students and faculty together for two days each during the first year of study. These occur near the beginning of each of your first three terms in the program and provide learning experiences tied to the curriculum of the first year. Additionally, you may present your final project at a residency at the end of your program.
At these residencies you have the opportunity to meet and interact with other Social Policy students from across the state and country. Residency experiences complement the online courses in those areas where individual and group interactions enhance student learning, from development of teamwork skills to oral presentations.
Among the residency experiences are activities such as mock legislative hearings, team development and presentations, working sessions on developing your final project and individual presentations. This blend of online courses with face-to-face interaction at these residencies has proven to be a productive approach for mature, adult learners.
