Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree with a major in the content area or have a bachelor's degree and 30 credits in the content area of which 12 credits can be in cognates (related courses).
Acceptable courses include any combination of areas that are included in the field of English Language Arts: literature, poetry, play-writing, film, speech, grammar or linguistics. Two or more of the courses should be upper level courses; applicants should have at least six credits in literature. Cognates: Courses in history, humanities, cultural theory, languages, are some of the many courses that could be considered.
