Withdrawing from a Course Procedure

If personal concerns or work demands make if difficult or impossible for a student to continue with a course after it has started, the student needs to alert his or her course instructor as soon as possible. Sometimes alternative arrangements can be made, such as an incomplete.

If alternative arrangements cannot be made, then the student will need to withdraw from the course. To withdraw from a course, the student should submit the Withdrawal Form, available at www.esc.edu/Withdraw, to the Office of the Registrar after having discussed this with his or her course instructor and academic advisor.

It is important for the student to note that he or she may be eligible for a refund for all or part of the tuition paid for the course depending on the date of withdrawal notification. The student will be eligible for a credit to his or her account if the notification of withdrawal is on or before the 28th day of the term. (Please refer to the credit schedule on page 39.) Withdrawals may affect current and subsequent financial aid eligibility and satisfactory academic progress. (Please refer to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy on page 77.)
