This is a compound-complex sentence. It contains two complete sentences joined by a linking word ("Scientists are working on a cure for the common cold." "Think how remarkably it will change..."). The second complete sentence also contains an additional phrase which is not a complex sentence in itself ("when they find one").

Scientists are working on a cure for the common cold and, when they find one, think how remarkably it will change the profits of the Kleenex and drug industries.
