Exercise 6: Pronoun Reference

Rewrite the following sentences so the pronoun agrees with the noun it refers to. Then submit your answers and compare them to our sample answers. (Note that although we provide an answer, there is more than one way to correct these sentences.)

  1. I saw Joanna put the letter in her backpack, but she can't find it.

  2. The doctor will remove the cast from Bob's leg and then throw it away.

  3. I am forwarding the insurance forms for my two children, one of which has been corrected.

  4. In accordance with the instructions I had twins, and I have enclosed their birth certificates.

  5. The next time students come to the meeting with wet coats, hang them up by their necks.
