Women in the Workplace: The Debate Over Leaning In
In this one day residency, students will read Sheryl Sandberg’s bestseller, "Lean In" and explore all aspects of women in the workplace from labor economics to personal finance, leadership and communication.
The obstacles men and women face at home, school and work will be discussed and strategies to find success and balance in our lives will be examined.
Carol Evans, the president and founder of Working Mother Media, will be the keynote speaker. Working Mother Media includes Working Mother magazine, workingmother.com, National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and Diversity Best Practices.
Students will be creating their own professional development plan and learn how to brand themselves in a competitive marketplace.
This is a 2 credit (advanced, liberal) residency, with several elective workshops available for expansion into additional 2 credit studies with individual mentors.
There is a $40 residency fee in addition to tuition.
The residency is open to all students, with priority given to HVC students.
Peekskill can be reached by MetroNorth train or car.
Registration is open for both March and May A 2014 terms.
