MindMeister FAQs
How do I set up a MindMeister account?
Go to the Empire State College-dedicated MindMeister site and use your Empire State College email address.
Important:
- Set up your account only at the college-dedicated site (not the public MindMeister site).
- Use your college email address because this is how a user is identified and authenticated as a member of the college community, and is granted permission to create mind maps on this site.
- If you decide to set up a separate account at the public site do not use your college email address, which will interfere with your access to the college-dedicated MindMeister site.
How do I create a MindMeister map?
Start with your initial idea or concept. Type this idea in the main node, then press Enter. This is the start of your map.
How do I give others access to my MindMeister map?
Click 'Share' in the bottom-left corner of your map page. At the prompt, type in the email addresses you wish to add, separating addresses with a comma (note: students do not require college email addresses).
Note: Type the email addresses under 'Add Collaborators' rather than the bottom box marked 'Add Viewers'; collaborators are able to edit the map, viewers are not). When done, click 'Invite These People.' Invitations will be sent to the people you have invited.
Where can I find additional help using MindMeister?
The MindMeister web site features tutorials and an extensive collection of help topics. Click 'Help' at the top-right of the MindMeister map, which will bring you to the main help page.
Can I make my mind map private?
All maps are totally private by default.
Are mind maps searchable?
All public mind maps are searchable in Google. You will need to click the down arrow next to your map (on the main page) and choose 'Properties,' then choose 'Publish,' and 'OK.' This will make your map visible to the public.
Center mentors should contact their local faculty instructional technologists with questions or for assistance.
