The Fort Drum Unit of Empire State College serves both civilian and military students. Weekly information briefings about the college and degree possibilities for soldiers and their dependents, as well as others in the community, are offered Thursday afternoons at 1600 hrs. Please contact the unit if you are unable to attend a scheduled briefing or for further information call 315 773-6139.

Directions

The Fort Drum Unit of Empire State College is located in the Robert C. McEwen Library and Education Complex on the Ft. Drum military installation. The office is easiest to access through the Mt. Belvedere Gate (call the office at 315-773-6139 for directions if you prefer to enter onto post through another gate).

From I-81 (either south or north)

From I-81, take exit 48 and turn onto Rt. 342 East. Go several miles to the third traffic light (passing over Rt. 11 at the second traffic light). At the third traffic light, turn left to get to the Mt. Belvedere Gate.

From the North on Rt. 11

Take Rt. 11 South through the village of Evans Mills. Continue until you arrive at the stoplight at the junction of Rt. 11 and Rt. 342 (you will pass Pizza Hut, Wal-Mart, and McDonald’s). Turn left onto Rt. 342 East, and continue until you reach another traffic light. At that traffic light, turn left to get to the Mt. Belvedere Gate.

At the Mt. Belvedere Gate

Drive up to the gate and have your driver’s license ready to show. If you are the driver, you may also be asked to show your current vehicle registration and proof of vehicle insurance. Passengers in the car may be asked to show a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license. If the Homeland Security alert system is higher than normal, you may be asked to park your car and get a visitor’s pass before entering the post.

To the Fort Drum Army Education Center

Once you’ve driven through the gate, turn right onto Po Valley Road at the first traffic light. Go about a mile and then at the first traffic light, turn right onto Conway Road. The Education Center will be the second driveway on your left. There are two parking lots, one on either side of the building – you can park in either one. When you come into the building, the library will be on one side, and the Education Center and the Empire State College office will be on the other side.

The physical address of this building is 4300 Camp Hale Road. This address may not work well in GPS systems.
