One-to-One Research Consultations
The librarians offer a research consultation service for the college's faculty and staff. (Students with questions about research projects should use Ask a Librarian.)
In a scheduled, personalized instruction session, a librarian will:
- provide orientation to the various research databases
- discuss advanced search techniques
- document retrieval options within the context of your research topic.
How does the consultation service work?
Have a research topic that you would like assistance or guidance in investigating to bring to the consultation.
You will have the opportunity to discuss your topic in depth with a librarian, who will offer advice as to what library resources will aid you in your research as well as any applicable resources you may find at your local academic library. The librarian will discuss techniques for developing your research strategy. Finally, the librarian will walk you through an initial search in the applicable databases to demonstrate various search techniques within the individual databases.
The research consultation lasts about one hour.
How do I initiate a research consultation?
Call a librarian at 800-847-3000, ext. 2222 during business hours, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting a research consultation. Be sure to include your name and how you prefer to be reached (e-mail or telephone).
A member of the library staff will contact you to schedule a time for your research consultation.
What do I need for the research consultation?
For the scheduled consultation, you will need:
- your research topic
- your college login and password
- a telephone
- a direct connection to the Internet.
