The Bureau of the Census is known as the nation's factfinder. It conducts most surveys for other departments as well as the Department of Commerce. Most of the data in its periodic economic indicators is derived from surveys of businesses and most of the demographic information comes from surveys of households or the decennial census.

BEA is an agency of the Department of Commerce. It is the nation's accountant, integrating and interpreting a tremendous volume of data to draw a complete and consistent picture of the U.S. economy. BEA's economic accounts - national, regional, and international - provide information on such key issues as economic growth, regional development, and the nation's position in the world economy. Also included is information on BEA methodology.
BLS is an agency within the US Department of Labor. It is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, business, and labor. BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the Department of Labor.

It was founded by Congress in 1913 to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system. Data at this site comes from the Federal Reserve Board.
