Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Center for Labor Studies Dean Michael Merrill's review essay, "On Our Marx," is featured in the spring 2014 issue of Labor, the official journal of the Labor and Working-Class History Association.

According to Labor's editor, Leon Fink, Merrill's essay, "On Our Marx: Exploitation, Crisis and Capitalism in the 21st Century," evaluates "three recent works on Marx and Marxism," two of which Merrill takes to task "for failing to reckon with the weaknesses of the Marxian labor theory of value."

One of the other articles featured in the issue, "Labor, Money, and the Financial Turn in the History of Capitalism," by Jeffrey Sklansky, also cites several other essays by Merrill and refers to him as "one of the leading social historians of the transition [to capitalism] in America."
