Presidential Search Survey Report

To the Empire State College Community:

On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, I am delighted to share with you a report on some of the efforts undertaken thus far by the committee and our search consultants to prepare ourselves for the important challenge of selecting a new president for Empire State College. We hope it will be as interesting and instructive to you as it was to us — and that this report provides you with some indication of how seriously we have committed ourselves to listening and considering your thoughts on the criteria we should be applying to this critical task.

The level of participation by members of the college community in the online survey was unprecedented and was significantly supplemented by the many listening sessions conducted all across the college’s statewide footprint. The results of all of this input will help us define the kind of leader Empire State College needs to achieve its unique mission.

More than just detailing the wide array of observations about the presidential search, the report also speaks volumes about the level of support, commitment and enthusiasm that Empire State College inspires in so many of its diverse stakeholders. Virtually every comment reflected thoughtful suggestions to guide our search and a profound commitment to the history, mission and goals of this special place. Thanks to that level of support, we remain extremely confident about the future of this college and even more dedicated to undertaking a successful search for its new leader.
