The members of the Presidential Search Committee have selected three finalists to meet and speak with Empire State College administrators, faculty, professional and support staff, students, alumni, College Council members and Foundation Board members in February. They are:
- Alan Davis, Ph.D., currently vice president of education at Vancouver Community College in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

- William Lowe, Ph.D., currently the interim president of Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minn.

- Martin Singer, Ph.D., history professor at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, from which he retired as provost and vice president of Academic Affairs last year.

Interacting with the Finalists for President
Among the options available to college employees to engage with the finalists in the presidential search is a webcast. One is planned for each of the candidates from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, Monday, Feb. 11 and Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Background Checks and References
The committee chairman, Richard Liebich, has requested that only search committee members call references or other individuals for information about a candidate. However, if you have information you would like to share, please contact a search committee member. The list of committee members is available on this site.
Three teams have been formed to do additional background checking and it is recommended that you contact the leaders of these teams by email with the name of a possible reference you would like added to the reference call list. They are:
The committee first met in July and over the past six months developed a comprehensive job description, reviewed dozens of resumes, spoke with and did initial references on nine strong prospects and selected six individuals to interview. Among those who applied were educators from a broad range of institutions, non-profit executives with an understanding of adult learners, and executives from the business sector with a connection and commitment to higher education. The pool was also very diverse geographically, ethnically and racially, and by other demographic measures.
