NY-Alert
What is it? Empire State College is one of many state university campuses that have adopted an emergency messaging service offered through the State Emergency Management Office and the State University of New York. The system will enable Empire State College to communicate in critical emergencies with all members of the university community who sign up for this service. Email, phone and text messages can be sent automatically to all members of the campus community who have provided their contact information.
How to sign up: Follow the information outlined on the safety and security website.
- If you choose to receive alerts, you must provide at least one email address.
- You also may provide (1) a cellphone number to receive text alerts, and (2) a phone number (either cell or land line) to receive voice alerts. You may list up to three phone numbers for each of these options. The system will attempt to contact every number until one of the phones is answered.
- The college advises that you list your most used number for text messaging and/or your most used number for voice messages.
Alert.esc.edu
The college is currently instituting a collegewide system that will enable timely single-source notifications to all parties affected by an emergency. Information about the system will be posted on the safety and security website as it is implemented.
All faculty, staff and students whose email addresses have been registered will receive notifications as emergencies develop. Accounts have been created for current faculty, staff and students.
- Once an account has been accessed by the intended receiver, you may modify passwords, user settings and groups to which you belong.
- Users may opt into various groups of notification at any time; however, they will not be able to opt out of emergency notifications sent by the college.
Empire State College community members may register individually for the free service.
Note: Empire State College utilizes other State University of New York colleges/campuses as operational locations. Individuals working at, or receiving educational instruction from, such a location also should register at that particular SUNY college campus. The following links are provided for that purpose:
