Contemporary Environmental Issues
Goals
There are several goals for the course. Two of the major ones are for you to to learn how to find and evaluate information on the environment, and to gain in-depth knowledge about some of the major environmental issues affecting the world and your local area. Another goal is for you to learn about some of the techniques that scientists use to investigate environmental issues.
Objectives

You will learn to:
1. Critically examine media presentations of information about global environmental issues.
2. Evaluate information about environmental issues obtained from objective and subjective sources.

3. Research and analyze local environmental issues.
4. Discuss opposing viewpoints on environmental issues.
5. Collect, analyze and interpret environmental data.
7. Explore methods scientists use to answer questions about the environment.
8. Become a more informed consumer.
