The Field and Lab Activities area for each module contains supplemental information, links, and activities that accompany the assigned DVDs.

Each contains:

  • List of objectives and important vocabulary,
  • Supplemental material in "Filling in the Gaps,"
  • Roundtable on environmental biology and economics,
  • Discussion area centering on the DVD material,
  • Article reviews and responses area.

For each module you may be required to complete some or all of the following activities:

  • Watch the assigned portion of the course DVD. (See this link on the Bulletin Board for the approximate times of each course DVD segment.)
  • Choose an article based on the material covered in that week's DVD and review it. You will review scientific articles, a web site, or the Pew Commission report depending on the module assignment.
  • Discuss scientific articles and the material covered in the DVD.
  • Answer a set of self-test questions.
  • Familiarize yourself with of ongoing data sheets.
  • Make note of species you observe in the DVDs and keep a running list of scientific names in the Species List. You will submit this at the end of term.
  • Add links and information about issues in the Roundtable on environmental biology and economics.
  • Preview some of the materials you will use throughout the course:
