Marine Biology: Field and Lab Activities
Overview of Activities:
Horseshoe Crab (Chris Lenaghan 2005)
The Field and Lab Activities area for each module contains supplemental information, links, and activities that accompany the assigned DVDs.
Each contains:
- List of objectives and important vocabulary,
- Supplemental material in "Filling in the Gaps,"
- Roundtable on environmental biology and economics,
- Discussion area centering on the DVD material,
- Article reviews and responses area.
For each module you may be required to complete some or all of the following activities:
- Watch the assigned portion of the course DVD. (See this link on the Bulletin Board for the approximate times of each course DVD segment.)
- Choose an article based on the material covered in that week's DVD and review it. You will review scientific articles, a web site, or the Pew Commission report depending on the module assignment.
- Discuss scientific articles and the material covered in the DVD.
- Answer a set of self-test questions.
- Familiarize yourself with of ongoing data sheets.
- Make note of species you observe in the DVDs and keep a running list of scientific names in the Species List. You will submit this at the end of term.
- Add links and information about issues in the Roundtable on environmental biology and economics.
