By Marcia Greenson
January 25, 2012
The Academy for Lifelong Learning at Saratoga Springs will offer a four-week study group on “Green Living” focused on adapting a lifestyle that creates a more balanced, healthy and sustainable life. The study group will be led by Karen Totino, owner of Green Conscience Home & Garden, who has a history of caring about environmental issues starting with her own family and neighborhood.
In this series, participants will learn about how their habits and purchases affect the environment globally and within their own living and work spaces. They will finish this course with the tools to create green environments inside and out, as well as how to responsibly “cast their vote” with their buying power as consumers. A field trip to a “green” house will be included.
Registrations also are being accepted for A.L.L.’s eight-week spring term, set to begin April 4, 2011.
A.L.L. is sponsored by SUNY Empire State College and affiliated with the Elderhostel Institute Network. It offers non-credit academic study groups for older learners each fall and spring, as well as a social program.
