Acoustic musiciansAcoustic musicians from the Adirondacks and beyond gathered to stage a benefit concert at the Indian Lake Theater this past November. The concert, at right, raised $4,300 from ticket sales and donations. All of the proceeds have gone directly to help people affected by the Hurricane Irene floods in Jay, Keene and elsewhere in the Adirondacks.

“We had a terrific day of music and community,” said Northeast Center mentor Tom Akstens, one of the benefit organizers. “We’re very grateful to everyone who came to the show, to all the folks who volunteered, to the Indian Lake Theater, to North Country Public Radio, to the Adirondack Community Trust, and to our wonderful performers.”

Roy Hurd, Peggy Lynn '05, CNYC Mentor, Dan Berggren, Martha and Dennis Gallagher, The Beeline Ramblers, Julie Robinson-Robards, Carolyn Bischoff and Akstens played at the concert.

All the performers were on stage together for the finale, “Goodbye Irene,” a take-off on the classic song by Leadbelly.
