AU-ABC Program Degrees

Air University-Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative Program (AU-ABC)

Air University-Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative Program (AU-ABC) is an initiative between Air University and civilian higher education institutions (including Empire State College) to offer bachelor's degree programs via distance learning that are relevant to an individual’s Air Force career field. The program is designed to transfer Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) credits so students can obtain a bachelor’s degree with no more than 60 additional semester credits for Category I and II programs; more than 60 credits for Category III programs. Students will be able to go to one centralized web site, the Air Force Virtual Education Center, for their educational needs including approved degree programs offered through the AU-ABC program.

Since Empire State College requires 128 semester credits for all of our bachelor's degree programs, AU-ABC degrees would fall under Category III (meaning Air Force students would only need 64 additional credits beyond their CCAF degree program to complete Empire State College bachelor's degree requirements). All Empire State College AU-ABC programs meet the following criteria:

  • Meet specific accreditation standards
  • Require more than 60 semester credits after the CCAF A.A.S. degree for a bachelor's degree – typically it’s only 64 semester credits
  • Deliver instruction via distance learning
  • Maximize application of military credit
  • Relate degree programs to one or more Air Force specialties
  • Have exceptional value for the Air Force
