About WorldCat.org*
You can quickly locate books, journals and other resources that are on the shelves of other libraries near you by using the OCLC WorldCat database** - a comprehensive electronic card catalog of materials held by thousands of libraries worldwide.

As a current Empire State College student or faculty member, you can access and borrow non-electronic, circulating materials from most SUNY and CUNY libraries using a valid college photo ID.

All WorldCat database records include a link that will display the libraries that own that item (for journals it will display what volumes are held as well). New York libraries are listed first by default.

Be sure print or e-mail to yourself the full record for each item you need to locate. This way you will have the precise information to: 1) use as a finding aid when you go to a local library, 2) give to your local reference librarian if interlibrary loan services are available to you, or 3) use a commercial document delivery service to pay for access.

If you have questions about searching WorldCat, be sure to click on the "help" link at the bottom of the WorldCat.org page

*You can access the old FirstSearch version of Worldcat until July 1st, 2007.
