Membership Dues and Privileges

Annual Membership: $75.00

Membership is annual and runs for 365 days from the payment date. 

You are welcome to join at any time during the year and your membership will expire 365 days later.

(Eight-week Study Group Leaders receive a free annual membership worth $75.)

Academy Membership entitles you to the following benefits:

  • Eligibility to enroll in classes 
  • Participation in the Academy’s special interest groups
  • Participation in all special events and programs
  • Free subscription to A.L.L. The News monthly newsletter
  • Copy of A.L.L. Member Handbook
  • Opportunity to be an Academy volunteer and serve on Academy committees
  • Eligibility to submit work to “The Apple Tree,” the Academy’s literary and art journal
  • Have a vote at the annual meeting in June

A.L.L.’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

The Academy’s membership committee sponsors Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which are organized by our members. Bridge, book discussion, theater, classical music, gardening, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and walking groups are examples. We will provide further details at the term kick-off luncheons.

Fall and Spring Term Kick-Off Luncheons

Held the week prior to the start of classes

Come to meet study group/class leaders, new friends, renew friendships from past years and learn more about the Academy’s programs.

Class Registration

$50 per 8-week class for each of the first 2 classes each term.  
     A member joining and taking (2) 8 week classes would pay $175.
     ($75 annual membership + $50 1st class + $50 2nd class)

$25 per 4-week class*.
      A member joining and taking a 4 week class and an 8 week class would pay $150
     ($75 annual membership + $50 1st class + $25 4-week class)

*(A class of 5 or more weeks is considered a $50 class at the fee schedule as written here)

Applications for classes will be accepted by mail in mid-July and mid-January or as soon as the schedule is finalized.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis. See the term brochures for first day of registration.  After several weeks of registration, open classes will be announced and registration will continue for additional classes on a first come, first served basis by e-mail, mail or in-person. Additional classes will require additional payment.

To encourage good discussion, study group sizes can be limited. Please indicate your choices for courses in order of preference and also list one alternate choice. If a study group is filled, your alternate choice will be honored. Wait lists will be established for filled study groups in case space becomes available before the term begins. Open classes will be announced with registration on a first come, first served basis.

Refund Policy

If you have to drop a class, a refund less $25 processing fee will be granted up to the start of classes. No refund requests will be honored after the start of classes. If A.L.L. cancels a study group, you’re welcome to apply for another open class. Refunds for canceled classes will be given without penalty if that is your choice.
