Graduation Clearance and Commencement Participation

Participation in Commencement Ceremonies
In order for undergraduate students to be eligible to participate in a 2018 Commencement ceremony, they must have:
- a concurred degree plan
- completed course work or 12 credits remaining as of April 2, 2018
Students who become eligible to participate after April 2 will be invited to participate in Commencement 2019.
Students graduating from the School for Graduate Studies are invited to attend any ceremony. To participate, they must have completed all program requirements or be enrolled in their capstone course in the spring term the year of commencement.
Students from the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Center for Labor Studies are invited only to their specific ceremony. In order for students from the Labor Center to be eligible to attend, they have to have completed their apprenticeship training or be currently completing it the spring prior to commencement. They must also have completed coursework or be enrolled in the spring prior to commencement.
At the ceremony, you will receive an official SUNY Empire State College medallion as you cross the stage, as well as a gift from the Alumni Association. Diplomas are not distributed to students at the ceremony. Official diplomas are mailed to students upon completion of degree requirements.
