Policy of Exception to the In-Person Requirement
The financial aid office recognizes that in certain situations, students required to appear in person to satisfy the verification of identity and statement of educational purpose requirement may be unable to appear due to mitigating factors.
The financial aid office may approve a student’s request for an exception to appear in person if the student is registered as a student with a disability with our Office of Disability Services. The student will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org for approval first.
The financial aid office may approve a student’s request for an exception to appear in person if the student is in the military or is a military spouse and resides out of state. The student will need to email email@example.com for approval first.
Upon approval, the student will be required to complete the Statement of Educational Purpose B 2018-2019 (non-residents) (PDF 68kB) or, for 2017-2018 the Statement of Educational Purpose B 2017-2018 (non-residents) (PDF 63kB), initially intended for students who reside outside of New York state and are admitted or seeking admission to the Center for Distance Learning, School for Graduate Studies or Center for International Programs.

Students planning to attend summer 2018, fall 2018 or spring 2019 should apply for financial aid for 2018-2019 by submitting the FAFSA. The priority deadline to apply for financial aid for 2018-2019 is April 1, 2018.
The Financial Aid Office will begin awarding summer 2018 financial aid for students enrolled in the summer term beginning in April 2018.
