Census Date for Financial Aid
The financial aid census date is day at Empire State College is day 29 of the standard 15-week term. This means that students who plan to take courses in multiple sessions during the term, must register in all courses for the term (regardless of the session start/end date) before the census date of that term in order for the course(s) to be included in that term award. For example students enrolling for any fall 2020 session (courses starting on or after September 8, 2020 and ending on or before December 18, 2020) must be registered for all courses by October 6, 2020 to maximize aid eligibility. Pell eligibility for the term is fixed on day 29 of each term.
The census date for the 2020-2021 academic calendar is as follows:
- Summer 2020- June 8, 2019
- Fall 2020- October 6, 2019
- Spring 2021- February 16, 2020
The census date for the 2021-2022 academic calendar is as follows:
- Summer 2021- June 14, 2021
- Fall 2021- TBD
- Spring 2022- TBD

If you are attending the spring 2021 term, the deadline to have all financial aid applications, additional financial aid requirements/documents and appeals submitted and any student loans accepted is December 1, 2020 in order ensure the processing of your aid eligibility by the spring payment deadline.
For students planning to enroll for the spring term 2021 please make sure you've already completed the 2020-2021 FAFSA.
For students planning to enroll in terms beginning May 2021 or thereafter, please submit the 2021-2022 FAFSA.
