Census Date for Financial Aid
The financial aid census date is day at Empire State College is day 29 of the standard 15-week term. This means that students who plan to take courses in multiple sessions during the term, must register in all courses for the term (regardless of the session start/end date) before the census date of that term in order for the course(s) to be included in that term award. For example students enrolling for any fall 2019 session (courses starting on or after September 3, 2019 and ending on or before December 13, 2019) must be registered for all courses by October 1, 2019 to maximize aid eligibility. Pell eligibility for the term is fixed on day 29 of each term.
The census date for the 2019-2020 academic calendar is as follows:
- Summer 2019- June 3, 2019
- Fall 2019- October 1, 2019
- Spring 2020- February 10, 2020

If you are attending the spring 2020 term, you must have all financial aid applications, additional financial aid requirements/documents and appeals submitted and any student loans accepted by the deadline of December 6, 2019 in order ensure the processing of your aid eligibility by the spring payment deadline.
Students planning attending summer 2019, fall 2019 or spring 2020 must apply for aid by submitting the 2019-2020 FAFSA.
For students planning to enroll beginning in May 2020 or thereafter, the 2020-2021 FAFSA application is now available beginning October 1!
