Student Technology Resources
Welcome to the Student Technology Resources! This is intended to be a one-stop resource to inform students of what technology resources are available to them while they are students at ESC. Below is a list of tools that are available to you. If you click on one of the tools, you will see an expanded menu with relevant links that should be useful to you.
Additionally, we will be holding a webinar for students on using moodle during the first week of the Fall and Spring semesters. Further details for that webinar can be found here closer to the start of the semester.
All current ESC students get Office 365 accounts. This comes with 5 free installs of the Microsoft Office suite which you can use as long as you are a student here at Empire State College. That means that you can use MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint for your class assignments on your home computers (PC and Mac), tablets, and even your smartphones.
Moodle is the learning management system (LMS) that we use for online courses, and hybrid and blended courses. Your instructor may post useful documents and materials to the course Moodle page. These are some useful resources for students using moodle and would like some guidance.
- Knowledge base articles: table of contents for students
- LEARNscape tutorials for students
- self-paced training course
- useful handouts
- week 1 webinar for students information
LinkedIn Learning is a video-based online learning and training site that delivers on-demand instructional content on subjects, such as time management, web design, Office 365, communication skills, and many others. Students have access to LinkedIn Learning for as long as they are enrolled at the college.
What tools and resources are available to you at any ESC location? As an ESC Student, you have access to the following:
- computer labs
LEARNscape is the college's own version of youtube. It is a good place to host your videos and makes it easy to create and submit video assignments on moodle. Check it out at learn.esc.edu
