The Department of Educational and Emerging Technologies will be conducting a range of training sessions for students to kick off the Spring 2022 term. All sessions are on MS Teams and guest access is available if you have not set up an account.
As part of JumpStart, we are leading sessions on:

- “Using Microsoft Office 365 Apps at SUNY Empire” on Wednes. 1/12 at 5:00 PM
- “Using Microsoft Teams for Meetings and Online Sessions” on Wednes. 1/12 at 5:30 PM
- “Navigating Moodle for Your Online Courses” on Thurs. 1/13 at 6:00 PM

Students can register to receive an Outlook calendar invitation to the session or join the session on the day of at esc.edu/etstudent.

Welcome to Student Technology Tools! This is intended to be a one-stop space for students to learn about the technology tools that are available to them while they are students at SUNY Empire. Below is a list of what is available to you.
What tools and resources are available to you at any SUNY Empire location? As a SUNY Empire Student, you have access to the following:
- Computer Labs
LEARNscape is the college's own version of YouTube. It is a good place to host your videos and makes it easy to create video assignments to submit on Moodle for your courses. Check it out at learn.esc.edu.
All current SUNY Empire students receive licensed Office 365 accounts. This comes with 5 free installs of the Microsoft Office suite which you can use as long as you are a student here at the college. This means that you can use MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint for your class assignments on your home computers (PC and Mac), tablets, and even your smartphone (when signed in to your college account).
There are many things that you can do to succeed as an online learner. Below are resources that provide guidance and tips that will assist you organize your time and communicate within your courses effectively:
Moodle is the learning management system (LMS) that we use for online courses as well as hybrid and blended courses. Your instructor may post useful documents and materials to the course Moodle page. These are some useful resources for students using Moodle and would like some guidance.

MS Teams is a communication and collaboration tool offered by the college to support faculty, staff, and students who are working remotely. This is a good singular space to conduct video calls, chat, share files, and collaborate on projects
