The Commons Planned Decommission

The Commons, the college’s WordPress experimental website and blogging site, is being decommissioned.    With the emergence of college enterprise solutions, the use of The Commons has diminished and it doesn’t meet the original need.  Additionally, the WordPress platform is difficult to protect against malware and hackers, creating risk to college data.

In Dec., Information Technology Services requested Common site administrators submit a Commons Site Evaluation service request at www.esc.edu/service-desk/.   Please see The Commons Platform Decommissioned for details.  We have extended the timeline to submit this request from Dec. 31 to Feb. 1. All sites that have not requested a site evaluation site will be deactivated on Feb 2.

In preparation for decommissioning, changes have been made to the platform. These changes include:

  • Some plugins have been removed, including:
    • PDF Creator Lite
    • My Page Order
    • Theme Authenticity Checker
    • WPMU Theme Usage Info
    • My Category Order
    • Proper Network Activation
  • Some themes have been removed, including:
    • RedLine
    • raindrops
    • Parament
    • News
    • Anjirai
    • Crucial
    • Drop
    • Fragrance
    • P2

Note: If your theme is deactivated, you will not lose any content. It will reset it to the default WordPress theme.
