Data warehouse is a repository which stores all relevant information to help support the mission of the college.
Databases are the storage mechanism behind many of the applications that are used at the college on a daily basis.

Digital Asset Management (DAM) provides for a single platform to store and organize digital assets, such as photos or other types of images.
The college currently utilizes Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Domino Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). These directories provide authentication information to most college systems.
The college currently uses Nolij as the official document management system. Nolij allows for the storage of document images and other electronic files which cannot be stored in the ERP.
This service provides training, consultation, research and evaluation, and planning assistance in the use of technology for teaching and learning. The service includes technology integration, technology professional development, technology planning, LMS support and guidance, research and evaluation of technology for teaching and learning, and other related technology tool support. EMPIRElife represents the college’s virtual student union. The website combines the social engagement features of Facebook and LinkedIn platforms, but is only open to active students.
Enterprise applications are software systems provided by IT Services that are used by the entire college. This change request is submitted when there is a need to add, modify or remove something from an Enterprise Application. An example would be the need for screen changes in the Student Information System (SIS), currently known as Ellucian Colleague. There are many other types of Enterprise Applications Change Requests that may be submitted.
Currently the college offers ePortfolio space via Mahara which offers the following capabilities: the ability to store files, publish those files into sharable web pages, and connect with other members of the college community.
ESC Connect is a remote access system designed to give faculty and staff a secure connection to critical college applications while away from their office computer. At this time, the following applications are accessible via ESC Connect: Lotus Notes (for Notes DP, DocPak, ERF, etc.), Colleague and Nolij.

IBM Notes databases are used to support many parts of the student lifecycle. From student degree planning and academic document processing to degree concurrence and graduation processing, the IBM Notes databases work in concert with Colleague (Datatel) to document ESC student academic progress.
Imagine-Microsoft is a software distribution program associated with specific online SMT courses. Imagine-Microsoft does not offer any Microsoft Office products.
Immersive Cloud Learning (ICL), also known as Immersive Telepresence, is a new platform that provides synchronous, real-time lectures broadcast from one location to multiple others. For example, a faculty mentor in New York City can offer her study group session live to both local and remote students (situated in other SUNY Empire locations in-state or around the globe).
The Project Management Office (PMO) manages projects primarily related to information technology.
The ITS Service Desk provides support for technical issues relating to college courses or services. The Service Desk can be reached by phone, chat, email or by submitting a ticket online.

KNOWhow is the system used to deliver competency-based education (CBE) courses at Empire State College. KNOWhow is built on the Sagence Knowledge platform. Refer to competency-based learning for more information.

Moodlerooms is the college’s learning management system (LMS) used to host delivery of fully online, blended, hybrid, or flipped studies.
From Technology Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) environments, to IP source and destination, ITS can assist with the creation of a space which will support a variety of modes of learning.
LEARNscape is the college’s storage solution for online video creation, editing and delivery. Faculty, staff and students can record learning objects directly from a web browser, then upload and embed the video into a web page.
Power Business Intelligence (BI) is a cloud based business analytics service, and currently the college's solution for building dashboards and other interactive visual reports from the data warehouse.
Microsoft Project 2013 Professional is currently available to employees. Microsoft Project is specialized project management software.
Microsoft Visio 2013 Professional is currently available to be ordered for employees. Visio allows for the creation of diagrams and flowcharts.
The standard configuration for ESC desktops includes a cabled mouse. ITS does not provide an ordering option for wireless mice.
ITS supports a vast system of network cables and jacks (connection points) and works with outside telecommunication vendors to ensure that they are maintained or repaired if necessary.
With the continuous monitoring of all computer traffic over the college’s network, the network firewall keeps the college’s data and computer users safe from widespread data attacks which could take the network offline.
ITS continuously monitors the college’s infrastructure and network to ensure high levels of availability and to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, modification, or destruction of network-accessible resources and data.
Switches are behind the scenes hardware devices that direct network traffic to the right location. Without proper configuration, and updating, the college’s network traffic would come to a halt.
Networked Scanners, Printers and Fax machines are available on campus locations.
Office 365 is the college’s cloud based email, calendaring and document storage system for individuals. Office 365 also allows for installation of such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on up to five devices.

The replacement of networked printer cartridges (toner supplies) is now automatically processed by contract with Xerox Corporation.
Microsoft SharePoint is the college's cloud based collaboration and document sharing platform that is available to all employees.
Skype for Business, part of the Office 365 suite of programs, is a communication program capable of text chat, video conferencing, and screen sharing.
SnagIt 12 is currently available to be ordered for college employees. SnagIt is specialized software for the purpose of capturing screen images.
Software patches and updates are automatically managed all college machines via KACE, a specialized software for this purpose.
Soundbars are peripherals which attach to a computer to provide audio output.
SPSS Statistics 22 is currently available to be ordered for college employees. SPSS is specialized statistical analytics software.
College owned desktops and laptops are preconfigured with standard software packages, including such programs as Office 365, Nolij, Colleague and Adobe Reader.
Empire State College offers Faculty and Staff the ability to video broadcast live events (such as conference meetings or presentations) via the web as well as capture and record material to be delivered on demand.
The Student Information System (SIS) is the student portion of the larger Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solution. The ERP manages all aspects of the college's data. The college currently uses Ellucian Colleague as its SIS/ERP.
ITS currently supports the Apple iPad Pro running the Apple iOS operating system.
ITS utilizes the Tandberg system for video conferencing within the college. If you are looking to start a video conference you may request that it be set up on a video conference bridge.

ITS offers video conferencing capability at several campus locations throughout New York State via Cisco Jabber. This allows for virtual “face-to-face” interaction between parties at physically distant locations.
The Web Content Management System (WCMS) is software which helps manage the vast amount of web based content displayed on college websites. The college currently uses TerminalFour (t4) as the official web CMS.
