SUNY Board of Trustees Approves Change in Tuition Rates

The SUNY Board of Trustees has approved a change in tuition rates for all undergraduate and some graduate programs offered by SUNY institutions.

All undergraduate tuition rates are increasing, as is the cost of some graduate programs.

The changes go into effect for the fall 2017 semester.

The Commencement Student Speaker Selection Committee is seeking nominations for students to speak at the 2018 SUNY Empire State College commencement ceremonies.  Any member of the college community may nominate students who meet the necessary criteria, and student self-nominations are encouraged. The deadline for nomination is Jan. 19, 2018.  For more details and a link to the nomination form, please see the article in The Student Connection.

Registration for the Spring 1 2018 term opens Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. and closes Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at 5 p.m.

Effective with the Spring 1 2018 term, the Student Activity fee is increasing from $6.25 per credit ($25 maximum) to $8.75 per credit ($35 maximum). For details about the increase, please see the complete announcement.

New York State recently changed the Meningitis requirement for post-secondary institutions. Under New York State Public Health Law 2167, if a student answers yes to having had the Meningitis vaccine they must provide proof they had it within the last 5 years. Students who are registered for the Spring 2017 term and after will need to submit their vaccine record or their response form. The Office of Admissions is currently reaching out to those students who need to submit additional documentation. Please visit for updated information.

Empire State College Foundation Application for Scholarships Tool: Applications are now open for scholarships for the 2017-2018 year, through a new online portal called ESCFAST. Thanks to the college's donors, more than $700,000 in scholarships will be distributed by the Empire State College Foundation to eligible students in the upcoming year. Following the suggestions of a number of our students, a Yammer discussion forum is now available for students to engage in open, respectful discussion around current social and political challenges.

Periodically, site moderators Patricia Myers, the college’s director of the Office of Collegewide Student Affairs and Elliott Dawes, chief diversity officer for institutional equity and inclusion, will post prompts to encourage discussion on issues of societal concern.

Effective 6/16/16, Higher One Inc. was acquired by Customers Bank. As part of this acquisition, Higher One's disbursement functions will now take place under BankMobile Disbursements, a division of Customers Bank. The college has begun providing students with Microsoft Office 365. As of July 20, 2016, all students enrolled in the Summer 2 term and June mini sessions will have their own college email address and the entire suite of cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 (O365) products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype for Business. All other students will have access to the suite of products as of the first day of the term for which they are enrolled. Students planning to attend May 16, 2016 and after should complete the 2016-2017 FAFSA online at listing school code 010286 in order for federal aid eligibility to be determined. Federal financial aid for the Summer 2016, Fall 2016, and Spring 2017 terms will begin to be processed by the Financial Aid office beginning February 22, 2016.
