SUNY Board of Trustees Approves Change in Tuition Rates

The SUNY Board of Trustees has approved a change in tuition rates for all undergraduate and some graduate programs offered by SUNY institutions.

All undergraduate tuition rates are increasing, as is the cost of some graduate programs.

The changes go into effect for the fall 2017 semester.

Registration closes and payment is due for the Fall 2 2017 term on Oct. 20, 2017. You may view your student account statement online. Enrollments not paid in full, or through approved financial aid, sponsorship or enrollment in the time payment plan will be cancelled after the payment due date.

The payment due date for the Fall 2 2017 term is Oct. 20.  Registrations not paid for by this date will be cancelled. If you are on the time payment plan, your first 1/3 down payment is due by Oct. 20.

Sunday, September 17, is Constitution Day.  On this day, we honor the document that founded our nation, and affirm our duty to know it and preserve the rights and freedoms that it guarantees. We invite you to use the resources collected by our library to learn more about the Constitution.

In addition, you are invited to a panel discussion on the New York Constitutional Convention, taking place Mon., Sept 18 at 6 p.m. at our 113 West Ave. location in Saratoga Springs.  If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live at More details about the event are available.

The 2017 Student Art Competition judging is complete and three top pieces and three honorable mentions have been chosen. Now, students, faculty and staff are invited to choose which of the six artists will have the honor of having his or her work displayed and recognized across the college.

Students are invited to participate in SUNY Empire's "Revisioning Adult Higher Education" webinar series June 5, 12 and 19 at noon Eastern. The first presentation is titled, "Who Cares About Adult Students Today: The Implication of Recent Changes in American Higher Education," and will be presented by Dr. Amy Rose, emeritus professor of adult education at Northern Illinois University. New York State recently changed the Meningitis requirement for post-secondary institutions. Under New York State Public Health Law 2167, if a student answers yes to having had the Meningitis vaccine they must provide proof they had it within the last 5 years. Students who are registered for the Spring 2017 term and after will need to submit their vaccine record or their response form. The Office of Admissions is currently reaching out to those students who need to submit additional documentation. Please visit for updated information.

Empire State College Foundation Application for Scholarships Tool: Applications are now open for scholarships for the 2017-2018 year, through a new online portal called ESCFAST. Thanks to the college's donors, more than $700,000 in scholarships will be distributed by the Empire State College Foundation to eligible students in the upcoming year. Following the suggestions of a number of our students, a Yammer discussion forum is now available for students to engage in open, respectful discussion around current social and political challenges.

Periodically, site moderators Patricia Myers, the college’s director of the Office of Collegewide Student Affairs and Elliott Dawes, chief diversity officer for institutional equity and inclusion, will post prompts to encourage discussion on issues of societal concern.

Effective 6/16/16, Higher One Inc. was acquired by Customers Bank. As part of this acquisition, Higher One's disbursement functions will now take place under BankMobile Disbursements, a division of Customers Bank. The college has begun providing students with Microsoft Office 365. As of July 20, 2016, all students enrolled in the Summer 2 term and June mini sessions will have their own college email address and the entire suite of cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 (O365) products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype for Business. All other students will have access to the suite of products as of the first day of the term for which they are enrolled.
