Five Business, Management and Economics Faculty Present at Academy of Human Resource Development 2014 Conference in the Americas in Houston

SUNY Empire State College made its strongest showing ever at the Academy of Human Resource Development ’s annual conference, with five faculty mentors representing  four centers across the college, at the 2014 Conference in the Americas, earlier this month in Houston, Texas.

Utica Unit Mentor Roz Dow, faculty chair at the Central New York Center, presented her work, “Spirituality at Work: Creating Balance and Job Satisfaction.” Dow also served as a reviewer for the leadership and career development track.

Center for Distance Learning Mentor Sue Epstein presented her work co-authored with Janet Marler, of the University at Albany, “Family-Supported Supervisor Behaviors: An Exploration of Antecedents, Meditating and Moderating Processes.” Epstein also served as a session host.

Program Chair of the Conference, CNYC Mentor Julie Gedro, an elected board member of AHRD, presented her work, co-authored with Laura Pincus Hartman of DePaul University, “Education as ‘Positive Disruption’: A Case Study of l’Ecole De Choix/The School of Choice, as Critical National Human Resource Development in Haiti,” and her work, “Human Resource Development from the Inside Out: Career Development and Lesbian Recovered Alcoholics.” Gedro also served on two panels: “Intersections Between HRD and Workplace Learning” and “Being a Reviewer for AHRD: What Does it Take?”

Northeast Center Mentor Sewon Kim presented his work, “Managerial Coaching, Trustworthiness, and Job Performance: A Conceptual Model Grounded in Social Exchange Theory.” Kim also served as a reviewer for the workplace learning track, as well as the Esworthy Malcolm Knowles Dissertation of the Year committee. Genesee Valley Center Mentor Angela Titi Amayah presented her work, “Influence of Individual and Organizational Factors, Knowledge Sharing, and Employee Performance.” Titi Amayah also served as a session host and a reviewer for the leadership and career development track and critical, social justice and diversity perspectives in HRD track.
