SUNY Empire State College students, alumni and employees from the Central New York region created beach-themed paintings in support of this year’s Year of the Caribbean theme for the college.

Sponsored by the student activity fee, the recent event took place at Painting with a Twist in Dewitt, N.Y.

“Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to this activity again soon,” said Kate Colberg, Central New York regional operations coordinator.

The Year of the Caribbean began at the college when University of the West Indies Professor and Vice Chancellor Sir Hilary Beckles delivered the annual Boyer Family Lecture, “Reparatory Justice and Economic Development: Critical Support for the Social Growth Paradigm in the Caribbean,” at the All College Conference.
