Online Advanced Graduate Certificate in Leadership for Sustainable Development Available this Fall

Graduate and prospective graduate students looking for learning opportunities in sustainability have the opportunity to earn a 15-credit, online Advanced Graduate Certificate in Leadership for Sustainable Development this fall.

Partner institutions SUNY Empire State College and The University of The West Indies Open Campus have developed five courses, all of which are available online.

SUNY Empire and UWI Open Campus will share expertise and teachings to educate students.

The one-year online program goes beyond the traditional ways of measuring sustainable growth and looks to improving well-being and the quality of life for all. This would involve engagement with all segments of society in planning and implementing development initiatives with a view to leaving a better world for subsequent generations.

The five online courses comprising the advanced graduate certificate are:

• Advanced Concepts for Sustainable Development – UWI Open Campus Course.
• Principles of Community and Economic Development – SUNY Empire Course.
• Leadership in Public and Non-profit Organizations – SUNY Empire Course.
• Stakeholder-Sensitive Business Models – SUNY Empire Course.
• Policy Formulation, Governance and Ethics – UWI Open Campus Course.

The advanced graduate certificate targets:

• Staff at diplomatic missions and ministries of foreign affairs.
• Private sector managers interested in leadership within the sustainable development sector.
• Persons engaged in work with environmental and community-related NGOs.
• Leaders and middle managers in civil service and public sector entities, including regulatory agencies and in the private sector.
• Other individuals interested in career advancement within the public or private sector.

The fall application deadline is July 15, 2019. In order to apply for the online advanced graduate certificate, a student would have to possess an undergraduate degree.
