Statement from SUNY Empire State College President Alan R. Davis on NYSUNY 2020

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – May 2, 2011) – “The incoming tide raises all ships and so it is with the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Program. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher are to be commended for their bold plan to advance New York’s economy and to create jobs through investment in public higher education.

“SUNY Empire State College has been an open institution for more than 40 years and provides educational opportunities for adult learners both online and onsite.

“With 35 locations across the state, and world-class expertise in online and distance education, SUNY Empire State College is ideally positioned and looks forward to working within the framework of the governor’s Regional Economic Development Councils to create jobs and to drive economic development.

“By improving the education of those already in the workforce, and through partnerships with the community colleges, SUNY Empire State College helps to fuel the educational pipeline and now NYSUNY 2020 will provide the spark for New York’s economic engine.”
