The graduation of Empire State College located at the University of New York in Prague will be webcasted live on Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. EDT from UNYP at www.unyp.cz/articles/graduation-2012-live. The ceremony will be held in Palace Žofín, a historic neorenaissance architectural site used for important social events, conferences, concerts and balls.
Eighty-four students will receive a Bachelor of Arts or Science. Hugh Hammett, vice president for external affairs at Empire State College will represent the college and award the degrees. The valedictorian, Xiaoqian Lin, is from China; graduates will represent more than 30 nations, including the United States.
Empire State College established a bachelor’s degree program in Prague in 1998 in cooperation with the State University of New York at New Paltz. The program is open to students who have completed two years of instruction at the host institution, UNYP, or another regional university. The program serves approximately 250 students per term for two academic terms (fall and spring) and a smaller summer session. Onsite office staff members are available to assist students.
Instruction in the Prague Program is classroom-based, provided by resident international faculty. A faculty team from Empire State College serves onsite two to three times per year to provide academic counseling and supervision of student final projects and theses.
Concentrations are offered in English language and literature, information technology management, business administration, communication and mass media, international and European economic studies and psychology.
