SUNY Empire Moves to New Staten Island Location

SUNY Empire State College's new site expands its space for renovated classrooms, office spaces, and technological infrastructure.

SUNY Empire State College moved its Staten Island campus from 500 Seaview Ave. to the state-of-the-art 1200 South Ave. office complex on the north shore on April 4. The new site provides opportunities to expand SUNY Empire State College’s instructional capabilities and services, while also enhancing the workplace experience for the college’s faculty and staff.

Located on the second floor of 1200 South Ave., the site expands SUNY Empire’s space by more than 1,000 square feet, and includes a complete renovation of classrooms, office spaces, and technological infrastructure. Given its proximity to several partner organizations, this location will be convenient for paraprofessionals eager to pursue advanced degrees within the college’s flexible framework.

The mid-island location will also feature onsite security, ample parking, and is close to transportation lines, restaurants, and hotels. As a tenant of 1200 South Ave., SUNY Empire will also have access to outdoor classroom space and scenic nature trails.

SUNY Empire State College Officer in Charge Nathan Gonyea, Ph.D., said, “The relocation of Staten Island’s SUNY Empire campus to a rapidly expanding area is an exciting move for the college and will continue to strengthen opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff who share that location.”
