Empire State University Hires Chief Information Officer Martin Gang

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- November 7, 2023) Empire State University has hired Martin Gang as its chief information officer and vice president for integrated technologies. His first day at SUNY Empire will be Monday, December 11, 2023.

As CIO and VP, Marty will be responsible for the planning and management of IT infrastructure to support our mission, vision, and priorities, advocating for development and application of information technology to support the university, and providing leadership for the effective use of technology. 

Marty has served in roles in customer support, application development, network design and management, infrastructure support, project management, information security, and business Intelligence. He has led technology teams at colleges, multi-college districts, and statewide systems. His senior leadership experience includes the roles of chief information and technology officer for the Maine Community College System, and chief information system officer for the Yosemite Community College District. He currently serves as chief technology officer at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho. 

He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Whitworth University and his M.S. M/IS degree from Florida Institute of Technology. He holds Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute and a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) certification from ISACA.
